Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Img ID ("we," "our," or "us") provides a website, API, and mobile applications (the "Service"). This policy explains what we process, why we process it, and how long information remains available.

1. Information we process

You do not need an account, and we do not require your name, email address, or phone number to run a scan.

2. Image screening and use

Uploaded images are checked by an automated content classifier on Img ID's servers before storage or analysis. If an upload is blocked, Img ID does not store it or send it to an AI analysis provider. The screening helps enforce our content rules but can make mistakes: it may miss prohibited content or block legitimate medical or scientific images. It does not verify a person's age, identity, rights, or consent.

Our Terms of Service prohibit NSFW content, including pornography, sexually explicit content, sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, and graphic violence or gore.

Accepted images are used to provide image assessment, description, OCR, component detection, file analysis, and shareable results. We do not send image content or extracted OCR text to Google Analytics or Datadog.

3. AI service providers

Images accepted for AI analysis are sent to third-party processing services to produce the results you request. Our configured model routing is:

ServicePurposeProvider information
OpenLux with Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite Primary image-analysis route OpenLux documentation; OpenAI Privacy Policy for the conditional Codex fallback
OpenLux GPT-6 Luna, then Codex GPT-6 Luna (OpenAI) Fallback routes, only when enabled and an earlier route is unavailable Handling follows the applicable provider terms and data practices.

Img ID does not send images through a direct Google API route. Third-party retention and use of information they receive are governed by their applicable terms and policies. We use these services to provide the analysis you request, not for third-party advertising.

4. Storage and 24-hour expiry

Our service stores uploaded images and analysis results so the scan can be completed and shared. Their availability ends 24 hours after the original upload. At expiry, Img ID stops serving the image and result, and scheduled cleanup and object-storage lifecycle processes delete our stored copies. These processes run asynchronously, so physical deletion from our storage may take additional time after the link stops working. The same expiry applies to website and mobile app uploads.

The cleanup removes copies in Img ID storage. It does not erase images or results downloaded or saved by you or link recipients, copies held in browser or device caches, or data handled or retained by AI providers under their own policies.

Recent scans also store a small thumbnail, verdict, and share code in your browser's local storage. The site schedules local history cleanup after 24 hours and removes expired entries the next time the site opens. Browser scheduling can be delayed while the site is closed or suspended. You can remove history sooner in the app or clear the browser's site data.

5. Analytics and service logs

We use Google Analytics and Datadog for page, feature, reliability, and performance measurement. We may keep minimal request, security, and error logs for service operation and abuse prevention. Those operational records can include IP addresses, user agents, timestamps, and request metadata; they do not include uploaded image content or OCR text. When screening blocks an upload, the minimal operational event records the NSFW category and standard non-content service fields; it does not include the image, filename, description, or flagged image data. These logs follow their configured retention periods and are separate from image storage.

6. Your responsibility and user-submitted content

You are responsible for images you submit and must have the rights and required consent to use them. Img ID does not endorse or independently verify user-submitted images, ownership, or consent, and to the extent permitted by law does not assume responsibility for user-submitted images or their use. Our Terms of Service prohibit pornography, sexual content involving minors (including AI-generated depictions), non-consensual intimate imagery, and graphic violence or gore.

7. Camera, security, and children

Mobile apps access your camera or photo library only after you choose to capture or select an image. We use HTTPS/TLS for data sent between your device, our servers, and processing providers. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Policy changes and contact

We may update this policy by changing the date above. For questions about privacy, contact [email protected]. Return to Img ID.
